Together we can redefine what it means to be Strong Black Women

Black Women and Girls face unique mental health challenges due to racism and sexism. Despite increased mental health disparities, Black Women and Girls are not receiving professional mental health treatment like their counterparts due to systemic issues in access and awareness and intergenerational cultural barriers like the Strong Black Women Schema.

Redefine Strong Inc. is a registered 501 (c) (3) created by Dr. La Shawn M. Paul, DSW, LCSW-R to increase professional help-seeking intentions of Black Women and Girls through the promotion of multi-media mental health literacy, advocacy, workshops, professional trainings, research, and culturally specific in-person and virtual community events.

Through awareness and advocacy, we can bring 1,000,000 Black Women and Girls to therapy.

What We Do

We provide free mental health education to Black Women and Girls nationally and locally in New York City through traditional and non-traditional resources and events like therapy, workshops, sister circles, drumming circles, book clubs, among other culturally specific events.

For mental health practioners and other stakeholders, we provide workshops and trainings to increase cultural humility when working with Black Women & Girls for a nominal fee.
